Mount Kilimanjaro Climb

Mount Kilimanjaro  (5895 meters)  is a dormant volcano is located in Tanzania. It has three volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. It is the highest mountain in Africa. Most people who like adventures are likely to speak about mount Kilimanjaro climb to reach the highest summit which is Uhuru peak. The mountain is part of Kilimanjaro national park and is a major climbing destination. There are several routes to approach mount Kilimanjaro namely: Machame, Marangu, Rongai, Lemosho, Shira, and Umbwe.

Machame Route

This route is the most popular path Nicknamed the “Whiskey” route beacuse its more difficult also more steeper than both Marangu and Rongai routes and  it has a spectacular perfect  view of the summit,It contains great acclimatization with high walk ,sleep which makes it fully catered camping only .Its itinerary invloves  6 days and 7 days via this route.

Accommodation is in tents. Climbers depart every second which makes this route is physically more demanding than most of the routes , except in rainy season (November, April, May & June).

Marangu Route

Marangu route  is also known as the “Tourist Route” or the “Coca-Cola Route.” The easiest and perhaps most comfortable way to the summit as you will overnight in rustic huts.Disadvantage is that at  the night on the mountain can be very cold.The route starts at the south-east of Mount Kilimanjaro. The entrance to the route, Marangu Gate, is quite close to the climbing  base . The ride there takes about 1 and 1/2  hours.Spending an extra day is highly recommended for proper acclimatization. You will ascend to the summit and descend back to the gate on the same path.

Lemosho Route

Lemosho route  is more popular since it has  good operators because of its beauty and success rate. This climbing route starts from the West at the Londorossi gate.It is considered to be one of the quieter routes of all the other Kilimanjaro routes.So many tourists who love it quite and less populated are adviced on lemosho route. It also has wildlife and excellent acclimatization opportunities.The route is the longest to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, so fitness of tourists is required and  certainly plays a role in the enjoyment and success of this trek. The Lemosho route takes 7 days on the mountain. 

Rongai Route

Rongai route Also known as the “Nalemuru route” is a route that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side , which is also close to the Kenyan border.is usually a five night climb. This known track may not be quite as fun and enjoyable  as the western routes, but it does usually have far lower traffic than the other routes. This route is a more preferred route for those looking for an alternative to other popular routes .There are different options to complete the climb in 5, 6, or 7 days.Its a very tough final summit night with fewer acclimatisation opportunities.

Umbwe Route

Umbwe route involves 6 days and 5 nights and is by far the most steeper route up the mountain and  accommodation is in huts.Your trekking will start from Umbwe Gate and it will  continue with a  trek to the first camp on  Umbwe camp. Umbwe route challenges most hikers so due to that a well thought-out location of camps to spend and by resting  contribute to proper and perfect acclimatization.short route with lower success rate because of rapid ascent Very remote and quiet and Fully catered camping only.climbers usually add  an extra day in the Karanga Valley.
